We are very excited to add Chris Carrasco to our design team for 2019. Chris brings a wealth of visual experience to the Troopers, having worked with many fantastic organizations including the Blue Devils, Santa Clara Vanguard, Madison Scouts, and Blue Devils B just to name a few.

"Having Chris join the team is just the extra boost we need going into Spring Training. We are thrilled to welcome him to the 2019 Troopers." -Kristy Jackson, Corps Director

Chris Carrasco is a full time designer, choreographer, and teacher, that has been working in the marching arts for over 15 years. He is currently the Associate Director of Bands at James Logan High School in Union City, California, where he oversees the design and teaching of the percussion programs, the top of which is a 6 time WGI scholastic world finalist. In addition to his school responsibilities, Chris works as a visual technician for the Blue Devils Drum and Bugle Corps (Concord, CA), and the Program Coordinator and drill designer for the Blue Devils B Corps. He started these jobs after leaving a three year tenure with the Santa Clara Vanguard, where he worked as the movement specialist and choreographer for the Drum Corps and the Visual Designer for the Winter Percussion. Chris has also worked as a Choreographer for the Madison Scouts Drum and Bugle Corps (Madison, WI), and is currently the choreographer for the DCJ Champion Yokohama Scouts Drum and Bugle Corps (Yokohama, Japan). Chris Carrasco grew up in Concord, CA, where he was a member of his school's Winterguard program. During his summers he performed with the Blue Devils B Corps on Baritone, and then later in the Front Ensemble. In 2010 he was the drumset player for the Sacramento Freelancers Indoor Percussion Ensemble, before he moved into a DCI teaching position with Blue Devils B in 2011. In 2013 Chris graduated from San Jose State University with a BM in percussion performance, and a minor in dance, and in 2018 added to his education with a master’s degree in education. Chris's unique situation of having been a performer in every section of the marching arts gives him a very holistic approach to design. This experience makes him a highly sought after designer, both in drill design, choreography, and show programing.

it's great to see chris carrasco joining the design team. his extensive background with groups like the blue devils and santa clara vanguard, along with his experience in every section, brings a valuable holistic perspective. this seems like a strong addition for the troopers' visual design as they head into the 2019 season. Great article about Chris Carrasco joining the design team! As a word puzzle fan, I’ve been enjoying the jeff goldblum wordle —it’s a fun daily challenge that fits nicely into a short break.

Welcome to the Troopers family, Chris. Side note for the comms team: between A Corps + Legacy + Alumni, Hall of Fame, the audition/interest/scholarship flow, Tour info, decade+ of news archive, and the recently-launched Northstar Indoor partnership, the site has remarkable depth — but prospective members and their families face a lot of nav at the moment of highest hesitation. A "Find Your Way to Audition" sortable landing page (filter by section + experience level + state + corps fit → matched interest form + camp dates + scholarship application) would meaningfully improve member acquisition. I help small performing-arts organizations build that with a copy web ai — Figma to working filter page in an evening. Worth a chat ahead…

Chris coming over from BD / SCV / Madison + the Yokohama Scouts DCJ work is a serious design hire — that holistic "performed every section" perspective is rare on any design team. I help with social for a small WGI ensemble and we use an NanoBanana AI image and short-video tool to create show-concept teaser visuals from drill sketches before the field tape is even cut (turns a 2D drill grid into a cinematic 8-second preview). Helps recruiting and marketing teams talk about new shows. Looking forward to seeing the 2019 Troopers visual package take shape with Chris on board.
