Teens from around the world arrive in the Treasure Valley on Saturday to train

for the 2019 Drum Corps International tour

The Troopers Drum & Bugle Corps, a world class, nationwide touring group affiliated with Drum Corps International will move into Idaho on Saturday evening to begin their month long spring training.

The corps, made up of professional teens and young adults from around the world will spend a month in the Treasure Valley preparing for their national tour which begins at the end of June. This is the first time in Idaho history that a drum and bugle corps has trained for a DCI tour in the Gem State.

The Troopers, founded in Casper, Wyoming in 1958 will enter their sixty-first year in existence and will include three treasure valley students who made the cut for 2019. The group has a landmark history that has influenced marching bands throughout America for over a half century.

Northwest Nazarene University and the Fruitland School District have agreed to house the organization between May 18th and June 18th.

The Troopers organization will host a FREE educational experience to all area band and colorguard students and their band directors/staff throughout the “District III” region on May 31st at NNU. Over 70 Idaho students have registered, representing 23 schools, including 2 colleges, and 2 universities. The camp will give local students the opportunity to experience a day in the life of a professional drum corps and will include an evening performance for their families. Details and registration for the Drum Corps Experience Camp is available at www.TroopersDrumCorps.org

A FREE debut performance of the Troopers 2019 program will take place on Father’s Day, June 16th at Fruitland High School at 7:00pm MT. To schedule an interview or to schedule a site visit, contact Marketing Director, Michael Gough at m.gough@troopersdrumcorps.org
