Show the Troopers Love with Scholarship Support

Now is the perfect time to show our 2024 Troopers some love! You help us put the best corps on the field when you give to our Mick & Susie McMurry Scholarship fund. This fund provides flexibility to corps staff to support members who may face challenges paying their tour fees.

No supporters in the twenty-first century had a larger impact on Troopers Drum and Bugle Corps than Mick and Susie McMurry. In past years, the couple’s generosity allowed the Troopers to offer up to $30,000 in scholarship money. With the loss of both Mick and Susie, Troopers took a new approach to funding scholarships last year, running its first campaign to build a scholarship fund in the McMurrys’ names.

“For many years, we were fortunate to rely on the generosity of Susie McMurry to help support scholarships,” noted Mike Gough, Executive Director of the Troopers. “Now, we ask your help to keep this scholarship program going so that future generations of Troopers will be able to experience the life changing journey that our beloved Troopers organization offers."

Donations to this scholarship fund are tax deductible. Distribution of scholarship funds are guided by corps staff with support from alumni leadership.

You can donate to support general scholarships here.

If you prefer to designate a particular member you wish to help, then our Sponsor A Member option may be for you.  While sponsoring a member of your choosing is not tax deductible, helping pay their tour fee obligations gives you the power of choice, and it helps reduce that member’s worries over tuition payments. You can find the link to sponsor a member here.

When you contribute toward a specified member’s tuition, 100% of your gift will be credited to this member’s account. Be sure to clearly indicate the name of the member you are sponsoring.

Again, member sponsorships are not tax deductible, but they are the best option for designating who your funds support.  Contributions clearly identified will be credited to the noted contracted member. Should the member be unable to fulfill their contract, sponsorships will be converted to credits in the Troopers’ yearly scholarship fund to benefit another member.

If you have questions regarding the Mick & Susie McMurry Scholarship fund or about sponsoring a member, contact our development staff here.
