Troopers Drum & Bugle Corps Response to Recent Allegations

The first priority of the Troopers Drum & Bugle Corps has been, is, and always will be, the health and safety of our members.

The Troopers are aware of allegations brought against us on social media by a group that purports to speak for the greater drum corps community. Every allegation raised by this group had been brought to our attention some time ago in one of several ways - through anonymous whistleblower systems set up by Drum Corps International, similar procedures in place by the Troopers, or through direct reports from members to staff or board members. As with any report we receive, each and every allegation was thoroughly investigated by the Troopers’ outside counsel, and their results reviewed by DCI. Where the complainants are known or can be determined these investigations include, but are not limited to, detailed interviews and communications with the involved parties and witnesses known at that time. For complaints made anonymously the Troopers conduct interviews of those identified in the complaint, as well as potential witnesses. As a result of these investigations, the Troopers were found to have followed all internal policies as well as those in place by DCI. Any claim that the Troopers and its Board have ignored member complaints and concerns is patently false.

We take every complaint and allegation seriously. We also take misguided attempts to defame our organization and dedicated staff seriously, and will pursue any and all options available to protect our organization, its members, staff, and supporters against false and misleading third-hand rumors and speculation. We are a mature organization that at all times strives to follow the law and best practices. As we choose to follow the law, as well as respect the privacy of our past and present members, staff, and supporters, we are unable to provide the details of the time and efforts that went into our investigations and what each revealed. While this leaves us with no forum in which speak on our behalf, we have faith that those who know our organization and those around it will know we have lived up to the highest of standards.

The Troopers organization cares a great deal about its members and prioritizes member safety and a positive educational environment above all else. If you have questions or concerns about the policies of the Troopers, please contact Alaina M. Stedillie of Welborn Sullivan Meck & Tooley, P.C. at 307-234-6907.
